Petroibérica takes center stage at the 11th Portuguese Road and Rail Transport Congress
2025-06-01Petroibérica, a company of the Grupo Alves Bandeira, participated as an exhibitor at the 11th Congress of the Portuguese Road and Rail Transport Center (CRP), held from May 13 to 15 at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC) in Lisbon.
Under the theme "Sustainability and Resilience”, the congress brought together key stakeholders from the road and rail transport sector to discuss technical solutions and future strategies for mobility and infrastructure in Portugal. Over the three days, Petroibérica stood out as one of the most prominent brands of the event.
The 100% Portuguese brand aimed to present its portfolio of professional solutions, particularly in the areas of bituminous binders, natural gas, and LPG — the latter positioned as sustainable and efficient alternatives to fuel oil. In the context of energy transition, the company used the congress to reaffirm its commitment to innovation and sustainability, based on a policy of proximity, quality, and trust.
Luís Vieira, Business Unit Director, emphasized "the investment made in proprietary tank storage at the Barreiro Terminal, with a capacity to store 8,000 tonnes of bitumen, as a strategic vector to ensure effective coverage and distribution at both national level, including the islands, and internationally. This infrastructure guarantees reliability, supply continuity, and a fast response to market needs — from loading center to client installation.”
To meet the full range of market demands in the bitumen sector, Petroibérica has established a strategic partnership with Lusasfal, the only manufacturer of modified bitumen in Portugal. According to Luís Vieira, "This collaboration enables Petroibérica to offer a comprehensive portfolio of both modified and traditional bituminous binders, capable of meeting a wide variety of technical and operational requirements in road and rail infrastructure construction and maintenance.”
Regarding energy solutions, Luís Vieira also highlighted "the company’s capacity to supply and install Autonomous Units of Natural Gas and LPG, which enable companies to reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 30% compared to fuel oil. These cleaner and more efficient alternatives are a concrete response to the decarbonization of the sector.”
As part of one of Portugal’s 50 largest economic groups, Petroibérica reaffirms its role as a national benchmark in the fields of energy and mobility, offering a comprehensive and specialized portfolio focused on efficiency, sustainability, and technical support for the business sector.
